Another amazing week at Balmoral for the Charollais Sheep Breed with Charollais winning the Supreme Interbreed Championship for the fourth consecutive year.

Some breeders dream about winning the Interbreed Championship at Balmoral but for the Bell/Christie team this has been a reality.

2016 is their fifth Interbreed Championship at Balmoral. This year it was Hollylodge Picture Perfect who took the title, a Shearling Ram purchased from McConnell Brothers Parkgate at Dungannon Charollais Premier last year.

Sired by Lornbrook Nutcracker and out of a Hollylodge Dam this tremendous Ram was a splendid example of the Breed, demonstrating the power and muscle which Charollais can achieve whilst also showing that bit of style.

The Lornbrook Charollais Flock also won the Interbreed Pairs Championship with their Shearling Ram and Shearling Ewe and were Reserve in the Interbreed Group of Three, all in all a brilliant Balmoral for them and also for the Charollais Breed.

The Charollais Breed classes were this year judged by Drew Cowan of the Tullyear Flock who was very impressed with the standard. The Lornbrook Team of Diane Christie, Trevor Bell and Amy Presho winning their classes in the Senior ram, Shearling Ram, Senior Ewe and Shearling Ewe.

The Shearling Ram, Hollylodge Picture Perfect won Male Champion and Breed Champion. Their Senior Ram, sired by Gogwell Kicking King took Reserve Male Champion.

The first placed Senior Ewe bred by the Beechview Flock of George Booth was no stranger to rosettes taking first in the Shearling class and Reserve Female Champion at Balmoral 2015. Winning Female Champion was the Lornbrook Shearling Ewe, a superb ewe well balanced with great conformation sired by Elmwick Mr McGregor and out of an Elmwick Dam.

The red rosette in the Ram lamb Class went to William McAllister, Artnagullion Rolex, sired by Riverdale Preacher who was purchased privately from Norman McMordie and out of a Castellau Figurehead Dam. This great muscled Ram shows a lot of potential and will be available to purchase at Worcester Charollais Sheep Premier on Saturday 2nd July.

Winning the Ewe Lamb Class and also Reserve Female Champion was a lovely, stylish lamb shown by Jonathan Aiken, an ET lamb out of a home bred ram, Carnew Kingpin and out of a Foulrice Danny Boy daughter. With a name like Carnew Rhianna and with style and presence to match. She will hit the headlines again.
