The Clogher Valley Show is one of 19 strategic tourism events to have received sponsorship in the latest round of grant aid to be released by Mid Ulster District Council.
The show, which attracts 10,000 visitors every year, has received a total of £8K from the council as part of its new grants programme, which will be supporting events taking place across the region to the tune of £68,800.
Covering close to 60 acres in the Clogher Valley, the one-day show is now in its 97th year and will host 14 championships with exhibitors from all over Ireland participating.
Meeting the organising team, Councillor Linda Dillon, chair of Mid Ulster District Council, said: “This is one of the leading agricultural events in the country, attracting thousands of visitors to the Clogher Valley every year, with the associated economic benefits for our hospitality industry, as well as for specialist services like stabling.
“While the show is famous for its championships, particularly its horse and pony competitions, visitors come to soak up the atmosphere in a unique location, to enjoy the exhibitions and the entertainment on site, as well as to experience the rural way of life.
“I’m delighted the Council is supporting such an important event in our annual calendar”.
The Clogher Valley Show takes place on Wednesday 29 July. For further information visit www.cloghervalleyshow.com.
