An entry of 1400 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 2nd March sold in another very firm demand for fat hoggets and cull ewes.
Heavy hoggets sold to 372p per kilo for 24.6 kilos at £91.50 each. All good quality pens sold from 350p to 367p per kilo. Most pens sold from £90 to £95.50 each. In all, 450 heavy hoggets averaged 26.1 kilos at £91.60 each (351).
Middleweight hoggets sold to 398p per kilo for 20.9 kilos at £83.20 each and for 23kilos at £91.50 each. All good quality pens sold from 355p to 382p per kilo.
Good quality cull ewes sold from £75 to £90 each with plainer ewes from £48 to £70 each.
A full yard of ewes and lambs sold in a slightly quieter demand. Good quality doubles sold from £160 to £200 each. Singles sold from £120 to £158 each.
