Firm trade for cull cows at Markethill

Six men arrested after 'serious assault' in Co Antrim bar.
Police said that at around 6pm a group of men entered McConnell's Bar on Main Street in Doagh with weapons including hammers and baseball bats before attacking a man in his 40s.
The man was taken to hospital where he's being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Detective Sergeant Robinson said: "We believe that the males then left the scene on foot to waiting cars and left the area.

An entry of 170 cull cows at Markethill on Tuesday 17th May sold in another very firm trade.

Beef-bred cows to £143 for 768k at £1095 followed by £139 for 686k at £950. Main demand from £120 to £135 per 100 kilos. Fleshed Friesian cows sold from £105 to £119 for 700k at £830. Top price Friesian £965 for 828k (117). Second quality friesians from £85 to £100 per 100 kilos with the poorest types from£60 to £75 per 100 kilos. Clean cattle to £193 for 750k at £1450 followed £173 for 705k at £1220.

The 180 lots in the calf ring sold in a very firm demand. Bulls (under 6 weeks old) sold to £415 for a Simm. Main demand from £240 to £340. Suitable heifers from £200 to £290 with a top of £345 for a Char. Young Friesian bulls from £40 to £100 each with stronger friesians from £130 to £200 each.
