Firmer trade for prime lambs at Markethill

An entry of 1090 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 3rd June returned a firmer trade for prime lambs. Cull ewes sold in an easier trade.

The 500 spring lambs returned a firmer trade. Light lambs sold to 354p per kilo for 20.2 kilos @ £71.50 each. Main demand sold from 335p to 348p per kilo. The entire entry averaged 22 kilos @ £74.80 (340p)

Heavy lambs sold from £75 to £80 each. Top rate of 321p per kilo was paid for 24.6 kilos @ £79 each. All good quality pens sold from 300p to 318p per kilo. The average for the entire entry of heavy lambs was 25.2 kilos @ £77.50 (306p).

Another large entry of 350 cull ewes on offer. Good quality ewes sold to £97 each. Main demand sold from £75 to £96 each with plainer pens selling from £50 to £70 each.

Another very good entry of ewes & lambs sold in an excellent trade. Doubles sold to £245 each with others @ £222, £205, & £188 each. Singles sold to £197 each with several more from £150 to £178 each.
