On Saturday 11th January at 9am Northern Ireland Young Limousin breeders will host their premier event, the calf spectacular at Ballymena Market.
Prestige is the theme of this year’s show with record prize money drawing out the creme de la creme of pedigree and commercial Limousin calves.
Also in keeping with this theme the Young Breeders have secured Chris Pennie as pedigree and commercial calf judge and Kirree Kirmode as young handler judge.
Chris Pennie is arguably the UK’s best Limousin breeder. Based in Wales Chris’s Sarkley prefix can be found in the pedigrees of many of the UK’s top Limousin cattle and regularly sells both bulls and heifers for five figure sums.
Kirree Kirmode from the Isle of Man, on her first judging visit to Northern Ireland made history by winning the Limousin Anglo-Irish competition in 2011 on her debut.
She is part of the family team which runs the Orrisdale herd.
The young Limousin breeders are able to offer record prize money this year due to the generosity of their sponsors .
They would like to thank the following sponsors for their valued support: Bank of Ireland, MSD, British Limousin Cattle Society, Greenmount Country Stores, McComb Contract, Minprint, McKinstry Skip Hire, Corries on the Farm, Firmount veterinary Clinic, Crumlin UFU, TL Biolabs, Fane Valley, Northern Ireland Commercial Cattle club, Northern Ireland Limousin Cattle Club, Dovea, Semenstore, AI Services, Cogent.
