Grain maize exposed to mould

As combines hit the fields this autumn for harvest, farmers may want to keep a watchful eye on their crop quality.

Preliminary testing over the summer months of 2015 European crops, conducted by Alltech’s 37+® mycotoxin analysis, shows climate challenges in Europe this summer have created a situation where crops need to be analysed for mycotoxins.

Heat impacted a large portion of central and southern Europe, especially during flowering and grain filling. Heat during this time of plant development can decrease grain production.

Corn pollination and fertilisation is a very important phase of crop development, thus heat and drought stress during this time can result in decreased yield potential.
