An entry of 1870 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 24th August sold in a very firm trade.
Heavy lambs sold to £92.50 each for 25.8kgs (359p).
All good quality pens sold from £84 to £90 each with main demand from 340p to 360p per kilo for 24 kilos at £86.50 each.
Good quality middleweight lambs sold to 377p per kilo for 22 kilos at £83 each. Main demand sold from 350p to 361p per kilo for 22 kilos at £79.50 each.
Stores sold in the best trade to date this season to 484p per kilo for 12.4 kilos at £60 each, followed by 457p per kilo for 14 kilos at £64 each. Light stores sold from 370p to 420p per kilo with stronger pens from 340p to 386p per kilo for 18.9 kilos at £73 each.
Cull ewes sold from £68 to £89 each with plainer ewes from £45 to £60 each.
In the breeding ring rams sold to £370 for a shearling Texel. Others sold from £200 to £300 each. Breeding hoggets sold to £165 each with several pens from £140 to £160 each.
