Hereford is the breed in the lead – from farmers looking for efficient, low cost beef animals to top end chefs wanting to provide that extra taste and succulence for their most discerning customers.
A recent report from the Hereford Society shows a dramatic increase in activity, with more demand for bulls, more throughput through the branded beef schemes and well over £3 million in additional premiums paid for Hereford beef.
The province’s cattle breeders have the chance to cash in on the Hereford success story at a special breed sale in the Dungannon Farmers Mart on Saturday 23rd February.
Auctioneer Trevor Wylie is upbeat about the event . He said: “The catalogue includes a high quality offering of bulls, many supported by excellent performance figures and including some which are eligible for the £500 cash incentive through the Hereford Cattle Society’s superior carcass initiative.”
Catalogues are available from the mart office or by phoning 07818 888877.
