A large selection of top quality dairy stock were once again on display at this year’s Ballymoney Show.
The difficult job of selecting the Ballymoney qualifiers for the 2015 McLarnon Feeds/NISA Dairy Cow Championship was undertaken by Mr David Perry from the noted Killane Herd based at Ahoghill, Co. Antrim.
The first qualifier at Ballymoney was Priestland 4951 Shot Bedazzle EX93 from the McLean Family’s Priestland Holstein herd. Bedazzle’s success at Ballymoney follows previous championships at Ballymena, Ballymoney, Omagh and Fermanagh as a second calver, and at Balmoral as a heifer. She is currently averaging 56 litres/day at 4.5% BF and 3.16% Protein.
The second Ballymoney qualifier was Marleycote Princess Jill 31st EX93 from the Bushmills Dairy Shorthorn Herd of John McLean. Jill was Dairy Shorthorn Champion at Balmoral Show in 2014 and is the reigning UK Dairy Expo Shorthorn Champion, having successfully defended her title earlier this year. At the moment she is averaging 40 litres/day at 5.17% BF and 3.78% Protein, and is projected to reach 11,700kg for her third lactation.
McLarnon Feeds would like to congratulate these winning cows and wish them all the best for the final of the 2015 McLarnon Feeds/NISA Dairy Cow Championship on 25th July at Antrim Show.
