The essential book for all those associated with shows and showing throughout Ireland, The Irish Shows Association Handbook 2015, has been launched at a reception held recently in Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon.
The book contains invaluable information about show dates, show contacts, judges’ lists and information on qualifiers allocated to the 130 shows that run in Ireland each year.
Limited copies for the book are available from your local show secretary or directly from the ISA Secretary, Michael Hughes. Tel: 00353 90 9623 945.
In addition, at the reception, an all-Ireland Home Cook Championship was launched. This competition will involve live cooking against the clock using only local ingredients provided by food stalls at the shows. In the first year, there will only be one qualifying heat in each of the five ISA regions and the winners will go forward to a Grand Final which will be held at Castleblaney Show on Monday 3rd August. The Northern Region heat will be held at the Armagh County Show on 13th June.
Speaking at the reception, Dr Patrick Wall, Chairman of Horse Sport Ireland, commended the ISA for their support for the Irish Food Sector in launching this cooking championship and promoting the Food Village concept at shows where locally-based artisan food manufacturers can showcase their products.
More information about the Home Cook Championship can be obtained from the Armagh County Show Office. Tel: 028 3752 2333
