It’s all systems go for the dispersal auction of Nelson and James Alexanders spring/summer calving suckler herd.

The sale, which takes place at Ballymena Mart on Saturday 21st March, 11am, has attracted good interest since details first hit the press as producers are tempted by almost 250 head of stock.

This is a genuine dispersal sale as the Alexanders plan to concentrate on their tractor business which is busiest in the spring.

All of the cows are scanned in calf to top performing bulls such as Swarland Eddie, and information will be available on sale day to match each cow up with its service sire.

The majority of the cows are carrying to Limousin, with Charolais, Simmental and Blue also featuring.

A number of cows with strong calves at foot are also set to come under the hammer.

For anyone looking for a proven stock bull the Alexanders are to offer two Charolais and a Blue bull - all of which have performed well but will now be surplus to requirements due to the herd being sold.

The Alexanders have spent many years bringing their commercial herd of cows to the standard that they are now. James is keen to point out that although they may be well known for showing a few fancy calves, the main thrust of their business has been producing consistent E and U grading cattle for the beef finisher. They have achieved this by breeding a mix of cows that have Limousin, Simmental and Blue bloodlines.

Everything at the sale is eligible for immediate export on day.
