Kilrail House Texels named Bank of Ireland champion at Clogher

Texel breeders made their way to Clogher Mart recently for their annual Club Show and Sale.

Sponsoring the event again this year was the Bank of Ireland, with judge for the night Alistair Breen, Drumderg Texels, Enniskillen.

Starting with the Shearling Ram Class, Mr Breen made his selection from Andrew Hutchinson’s Round Island pen. His exhibit, Derryhoney Viscount, a Drumderg UK son purchased from young breeder Nathan Armstrong as a lamb last year later sold to N&A Johnston for £420.

Taking second place in the line-up was a homebred shearling, sired by Baltier Panther exhibited by Catherine Black. Claiming third place was Murray Annett, Milestonehill Texels with a Stonehills Utah son out of a Ballydesland Oscar dam.

In the Ram Lamb Class Mr Breen choose his first place lamb from John Young Kilrail House pen. This lamb later claimed the Bank of Ireland Champion, a Botera Unstoppable out of a Kilrail House mother sired by Forkins Superstar. Later selling for the top price of the evening at £451.50 he sold to RJ Crawford.

Mr Breen’s second place rosette and Bank of Ireland Reserve Champion went to Norman Reid Beechvale Texels, Omagh. Sired by a homebred ram, Beechvale Vet and out of a homebred ewe he sold to D Johnston for £420.

Gary Rankin’s Garvetagh Hill exhibit claimed Mr Breen’s third place rosette. A Clew Bay Van Gar son out of a Springhill Ronaldo mother realised £325.50.
