Brian Hunter, the Chairman of Lisburn and Saintfield District Show Committee, has confirmed that this year’s event goes ahead as scheduled.
“This year’s show definitely takes place at its new home of Balmoral Park on Saturday June 20th,” he said.
Hunter added that rumours had been circulating to the effect that this year’s event would not take place at all.
“I want to knock all of this on the head now,” he stressed. “Our event goes ahead, as scheduled. All our plans are now in place. A new Show Committee was appointed at the beginning of March. And I can confirm that each member is totally committed to the future of the event.”
Hunter went on to confirm that a comprehensive range of events and other attractions has been put in place for visitors attending the event on June 20th. Sections catalogued for this year’s Lisburn and Saintfield District Show include Home Industries, Poultry, Horses, Ponies, Miniature Horses, Donkeys, Agricultural Horses, Carriage Driving, Cattle, Sheep and Goats. Competitors come from province wide and in particular the Home Industries section attracts entries from local school children.
“We will also be repeating the rare breeds’ display, which went down extremely well with visitors last year. The Show is a day out for spectators and competitors alike,” explained Hunter.
