A good entry of sheep in Hilltown on Thursday 12th November resulted in a firm trade. Top price of £75 was paid for 25k from Rathfriland farmer. Top rate of 361ppk for 16.6k making £60 from Castlewellan farmer.

Good quality cull ewes sold to £80, with plainer ewes selling from £45 to £60.


Annalong farmer: 11.3k at £40 [354ppk], 13.2k at £46 [348ppk], 18.6k at £60 [322ppk]. Castlewellan farmer: 17.8k at £59.50 [334ppk], 19.6k at £62 [316ppk]. Dromara farmer: 18k at £59 [327ppk]. Newcastle farmer: 15.3k at £50 [326ppk]. Kilcoo farmer: 21.9k at £69 [315ppk], 20k at £63 [315ppk].

Another good entry of cattle at Hilltown on Saturday 14th November resulted in a steady trade in both rings. Bullocks sold to £540 over for 560k at £1100, from Newcastle farmer. Heifers sold to £400 over for 600k making £1000, from Rathfriland farmer.

Fat cows: Top price cow sold at £840 at 500k from Castlewellan farmer. Sample prices: Newry farmer: 538k at £820. Castlewellan farmer: 474k at £600.

Springing heifers: Good quality springing heifers sold to £1000, from Newry farmer.

Cows and calves: There was a good show of cows and calves on offer, selling to £1320 from Mayobridge farmer.

Heifers: Top rate of 267ppk at 226k making £605 from Rostrevor farmer. Annalong farmer: 248k at £560. Castlewellan farmer: 430k at £870, 426k at £745. Hilltown farmer: 410k at £770. Banbridge farmer: 342k at £705. Warrenpoint farmer: 362k at £680. Rostrevor farmer: 504k at £920.

Weanling males: Top price weanling male made £835 at 360k from Hilltown farmer. Top rate of 248ppk at 330k making £820, from Annalong farmers.
