An entry of 1390 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 17th June sold in a noticeably quieter trade for fat lambs. Cull ewe trade remained firm.

The 920 lambs returned an easier demand with good quality lightweight lambs from 300p to 316p per kilo with a top of 318p per kilo for 20.2 kilos at £64.20 each.

Heavy lambs sold from £69 to £73 each. Top rate of 302p per kilo was paid for 24 kilos at £72.50 each. Main demand sold from 280p to 296p per kilo.

The 310 cull ewes sold in a firm trade with 1st quality lots from £80 to £117 each with 2nds from £50 to £70 each.

In the breeding ring doubles sold to £208 each with several more from £160 to £198 each. Singles sold to £175 each. Main demand sold from £130 to £175 each.
