An entry of 900 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 1st July returned a slightly firmer trade for lambs with cull ewe trade remaining firm.
Heavy lambs sold from £64 to £69 each and from 258p per kilo for 24.1 kilos at £65.80 each.
Light lambs reached 333p per kilo for 21 kilos at £70 each. All good quality pens sold from 285p to 300p per kilo.
The first entries of store lambs sold in a very firm demand relative to fat lamb prices. Top rate of 354p per kilo was paid for 14 kilos at £49.50 each followed by 332p per kilo for 16.2 kilos at £54 each. All good stores sold from 300p per kilo.
The 240 cull ewes continued to sell in a strong demand with good quality pens from £75 to £97 each.
The final sale of ewes and lambs for this season returned a steady trade with singles from £115 to £150 each. Doubles sold to £162 each.
