MARTS: Markethill

An excellent entry of 450 store cattle, weanlings and sucklers at Markethill on Saturday 4th July sold in an exceptionally firm trade with several individual cattle selling at prices that were on a par with any ever achieved at this mart.

HEIFERS

The 110 store heifers sold in an exceptionally firm trade. Middleweight heifers sold to £250 for 402k Char at £1005 followed by £242 for 414k at £1000 both for a Tempo farmer. All quality lots from £190 to £221 per 100 kilos. Lightweight heifers from £200 to £249 for 378k at £940. Forward heifers from £190 to £225 for 560k at £1260 for a Keady farmer. Second quality heifers sold from£175 to £185 per 100 kilos.

Top price Friesian £1125 for 750k (150). Middleweight friesians from £150 to£174 for 488k at £850.
