A very large entry of 736 store cattle, weanlings and sucklers at Markethill on Saturday 1st August sold in a steady demand for all stock.

BULLOCKS

A very good entry of 346 store bullocks maintained a very good demand for quality lots. Good quality forward bullocks sold from£180 to £200 for 540k Angus at £1080. Middleweights from £190 to £210 for 440k at £930. Lightweights from £200 to £225 for 370k at £835. Good quality forward Friesian steers from £140 to £159 per 100 kilos with a top of £177 for 576k a £1020. Middleweight friesians from £140 to £160 for 416k at £665.

An entry of 160 cull cows at Markethll on Tuesday 4th August continued to sell in a very firm trade for all classes. Non FQA and import cows sold readily. Beef bred cows from £124 to £144 per 100 kilos with a top of £150 for 610k at £915. Top price £1215 for a 980k Lim cow (124). Fleshed friesian cows to £920 each for 800k (155). Main demand from £105 to £115 for 790k at £910. Second quality friesians from £85 to £100 per 100 kilos with the poorest quality lots from £60 to £80 per 100 kilos.
