A highlight of Friday’s sale was the price paid for good weanling calves. A Kilkeel farmer sold a pen of BB ad Sim to reach £1050 for a 520k steer with £1040 for a 518k heifer. A Ballynahinch farmer sold a 366k Sim male at £940.

A Lisburn farmer sold a 242k Ch male at £720 or 297p/k. Store heifers found brisk bidding with a 424k Her at £920. Bullocks sold to £1145 for a 760k BB from Banbridge. Fat cows were more plentiful, selling to £900 for a 748k Lim from Corbally. A Her bull, 950k sold at £1000. In the dropped calf section, a Dundrum farmer reached £465, £445 and £440 for heifers.

A great trade for sheep on Tuesday night saw heavy hoggets sell to £110 for a Poyntzpass farmer. £107.50 was paid to a Loughgall farmer and £102 to a Newtownhamilton farmer. Fat ewes were consistently a better trade. A top of £135 was paid to a Ballynamagna farmer and a Loughgall farmer was paid £134. The top 10 lots of ewes sold from £124 to £135.
