With cattle prices across the board greatly increased, the dropped calf trade was simply exceptional.

A Crossmaglen farmer sold 2 Lim bulls at £500 and £445. A Tassagh farmer sold a BB bull at £500 and an AA at £480. Sim bulls sold to £430 for a Warrenpoint farmer. 3 Her bulls from Dromore sold at £360 each. Glenside farms topped the weanling section at £850. A Bryansford farmer topped the heifer section at £860. A high of 271p/k was paid twice for a 296k Lim at £800 and a 258k Lim at £700. Store heifers sold to £1115 for a 604k BB from Dromara. A special entry of cows with calves at foot from South Armagh sold at £1340, £1320 and £1250. Poyntzpass farmer: DAQ cow and calf at £1320. Ardglass farmer: cow and calf at £1250. Just over 50 bullocks this week sold to £1175 for a 586k Lim from Bryansford. The top 10 bullocks sold from £1100 to £1175. A Newry farmer sold a 306k Lim at £875 or 286p/k and a Loughbrickland farmer: 318k Sim at £780 or 245p/k.

Fat cows sold to £900 for 754k with a top pence per kilo of 132p for 674k at £890. Special entry of suckler cow with calves at foot to £1340, £1320, £1320, £1250 and £1250.

1000 lambs and 370 fat ewes were entered into the sale on Tuesday evening, which saw the lighter lambs sell to 330 pence per kilo for 2 lots of 16k at £54 per head. All light lambs sold better than expected and over £3.00 p/k. The 22k lots also sold to £3.00p/k on several occasions for a Castlewellan farmer with 22k at £66.50. Kilkeel farmer: 22k at £66 etc. Fat ewes topped at £103 for the second week in succession for a Mayobridge farmer.
