MARTS: Solway and Tyne Texels sell to 2500gns

Leading trade in the Solway and Tyne Texel Club’s in-lamb sale was a 2500gns bid for the pre-sale champion from Robert Bennet’s Plasucha flock.

This substitute gimmer is by Connachan Sharky and is out of a Penparc Nobleman daughter and sold in-lamb carrying a single to Garngour Upperclass. She found a new home with Clive Long, Strabane, Co Tyrone.

Keith, Alan and Roy Campbell then sold at 1000gns, taking this money for the third prize gimmer from the pre-sale show. This was CKC1302908. She is a daughter of the 20,000gns Cairnam Talisman and is out of a Kelso Pavarotti sired dam. She sold in-lamb to Cowal Vital Spark II and headed to R Stevenson, Brampton, Carlisle.

Next in from the same home and making 950gns was CKC1303041. This is a daughter of the 42,000gns Tullylagan Tonka out of an Ettrick Jackpot sired dam. She also sold in-lamb to Cowal Vital Spark II and was also bought by R Stevenson.

Following her at 850gns was the best from the Yarrow flock of W N Douglas, this was DWY1309577, a Procters Theatre of Dreams daughter out of a dam by Millar’s Obsession. She sold carrying to Logie Durno T Rex and was bought by A L Thomas, Capel, Dewi.

And making 800gns was Giles Pyman’s best of the day, PXT1300981 from the Thacka flock. This Thacka Touch of Class daughter is out of a dam by Templand Nugget and was knocked down to A C Vernon, Moulton, Spalding, carrying to Haddo Vanguard.

Average; one ewe £651, 52 shearling ewes £527.22, six ewe lambs £318.50 (Harrison and Hetherington).

Brookhill Reduction

The major reduction of Alex and Gemma Brown’s Brookhill flock met a flying demand, trading to a top of 2000gns for the in-lamb gimmer BGB1300174. Sired by Sportsmans Sandpiper she is out of a dam by Fachel Ozzie and sold in-lamb to Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold. Buying this one was S W Boow, Millom, Cumbria.

Two then made 1500gns, with the first of these being BGB1100065, an ET bred two-crop ewe by Craighead Hercules out of a dam by Stonefieldhill Keepsake 11. Sold in-lamb to Oberstown Usain Bolt she was bought by R Wilson, Appleby-in-Westmoreland.

The other at this price was the gimmer BGB1300173, a triplet daughter of Clola Marksman out of a dam by Fachell Ozzie and in-lamb to Usain Bolt. She was knocked down to T Bustance, Moulton, Spalding.

And a pair also made 1200gns, with the first of these being BGB1300193, an Alwent Talent daughter out of an Alwent Oliver sired dam. Sold carrying to Midlock Unique she was bought by S W Boow.

Her twin sister was the other at this level, with this being BGB1300194, again in-lamb to Midlock Unique she went home with R Darling, Melrose.
