‘Milk trolley challenge’ picks up pace across the UK

As farmers stepped up their protests in Coleraine last night against milk prices there were more ‘milk trolley challenge’ videos posted online.

The ‘milk trolley challenge’ was begun by farmers in South Gloucester who ‘milked’ their local supermarket in protest against unfair dairy prices.

Last night there were two further videos posted on Facebook. One was of farmers protesting in Morrisons, Guisborough, North Yorkshire, and a second was videos in Morrisons, Bude, Cornwall. A third was held at Asda, Melksham, Wiltshire but there was no video available of this protest.

In Northern Ireland dairy farmers continued to protest last night at the crisis in milk prices.

More than 50 farmers including 15 tractors and a slurry tanker turned out to protest at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Coleraine, as well as Asda and Tesco stores in the town.

The police were on hand to advise protestors that they would face prosecution if they tried to stop supplies entering stores as they did last week in Coleraine when Dale Farm were blocked from entering stores in the town.
