On a lovely summer evening on 4 June 2015 members and friends of Muckamore WI held their annual outing to Grey Abbey House and Harrison’s of Greyabbey.

Grey Abbey House is the residence of the Montgomery family and has been since 1606 and members were given a tour of some of the impressive rooms of the house and were able to admire the many interior features and the interesting collection of family portraits.

The tour was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and then it was back on the bus for the short journey to Harrison’s.

As usual any outing would not be complete without having a meal and members were not disappointed with the excellent meal which was provided by Harrison’s. An opportunity to browse round the garden centre and farm shop resulted in purchases being made by many of the ladies.

Congratulations and best wishes were expressed to Audrey Pollock.

Audrey and husband Roland will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary in July.

The birthday girl for June was Alison Graham and the winner of the on the spot competition, guessing how many miles from the starting point at Muckamore Presbyterian Church to Greyabbey, was Jennifer Johnston.

Members were informed of the recent death of Margaret White who was a past member.

Margaret had been a faithful member of Muckamore WI for many years and members extend sympathy to her family at this sad time.

Thanks were expressed to Margaret McGreggor and Ruth Wilson for organising the evening which had been thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
