Club chairman Will Short welcomed members and friends to the dinner. He said he appreciated their support at the club sales, Balmoral Show, the MINSUPS qualifying shows and the grand final at Clogher Valley.

Mr Short spoke of the importance of encouraging the Charolais youth to compete in young handling and stock judging competitions and the benefits of exhibiting at summer shows.

The youth in the Northern Ireland region have had great success over the years both at regional and UK level; he congratulated all those young people who qualified for the UK finals at NEC.

Eimear McGovern was congratulated on winning a trip to France and Matthew Mitchell gained a third place.

Young people also competed for the Animax Cup at the Pedigree Calf Fair.

In his address he spoke of the support given by all the sponsors. Without these businesses many events would simply not happen.

He thanked them for continuing to invest in the Charolais breed. He also acknowledged the generosity of the British Charolais Society who match fund the main championships and suckled calf shows.

Mr Short thanked the judges of sales and shows and the team of young judges who judged the autumn suckled calf shows and those who shared their expertise in workshops and at stock judging practices and at the NI Stockjuding competition hosted by the Connolly Family Brigadoon. He congratulated all those who had won trophies over the past year and wished members every success in the year to come.

The chairman concluded by thanking The Valley Hotel for a beautiful meal. Music was provided by Cathy McGovern and photography by David Connolly.
