Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill has indicated that the validation process for Single Applications will now begin.
The Department received 27,173 Applications by the closing date of 15 May 2015 and once all of the application data has been entered onto DARD systems, applications will be thoroughly checked. Alongside this, claims will be selected for inspection on a random and risk basis. In addition, new controls have been introduced to ensure applicants to schemes are active farmers.
Minister O’Neill said: “This year my Department has received 27,173 Single Applications so far and my officials will now begin the validation process to ensure that applications meet the criteria for each of the new scheme rules introduced under CAP Reform.
“In particular, before Basic Payment entitlement values are calculated and established for farm businesses, DARD will check to ensure the active farmer requirements are met and that applicants to the regional reserve are genuinely separate from other businesses. In parallel to this process claims will be randomly selected for inspection.”
