The Film&Film Wrapping System is a revolutionary new, dual film technology that delivers superior quality silage through greater bale density and an enhanced oxygen barrier.
This innovative step-change in baling and wrapping practices is the latest advancement in baled silage preservation. In addition to improved silage quality the Film&Film System provides further benefits in terms of minimised forage waste and reduced environmental impact.
Reflecting the success of the Film&Film System is its adoption by a number of high profile equipment manufacturers who have developed machines that can both bale and wrap silage without the use of twine or net.
Having proved its ability to provide high quality winter fodder, balewrapping has been widely adopted since its inception over 25 years ago thanks to the reduced labour requirements, lower investment costs and feeding flexibility involved. Wrapped bales have helped farmers to feed their herds in an easy, cost-effective manner for the last quarter of a century but the inventiveness of the Film&Film System now allows them to take that one step further.
This innovative new practice involves the combined use of Baletite net replacement film alongside Silotite balewrap. Baletite replaces the traditional netwrap used to bind crops into a bale format. Together these two films form the Film&Film System which offers several valuable benefits:
Automation of the feeding process
Baletite is easy to remove from the bale as no fodder can become enmeshed in it as with netwrap. Bales wrapped using the Film&Film System can be unwrapped quickly and easily and, if using a bale handler and mixing wagon it is possible to feed out the contents with minimum human intervention.
Netwrap or twine has to be separated from the balewrap after removal from the bale and then segregated for recycling due to its different material composition. The Film&Film System eliminates the need to separate and segregate as both Baletite and the balewrap are manufactured from the same base material. As such they can be easily and quickly set aside together for recycling.
Film&Film System bales also benefit from an enhanced ensiling process resulting in better crop conservation thanks to the increased oxygen barrier afforded by the additional film layers applied during the baling stage.
Easy handling and storage
In addition to creating more compact bales that can better withstand handling, Film&Film System bales also benefit from greater protection around the bale circumference thanks to the extra film layers.
Speaking of the Film&Film System Lloyd Dawson, Area Sales Manager commented: “As a business we are committed to meeting the ongoing silage preservation challenges of farmers and contractors worldwide. Increasingly cost pressures mean that farmers need to maximise quality whilst trying to reduce cost and we believe that the Film&Film System is just the type of innovation that will help them to do this.”
