Holstein Northern Ireland is staging its final show and sale of 2014 at the Pedigree Sales Arena, Moira, on Wednesday 17th December.
Sponsored by AI Services (NI) Ltd, the event has attracted an entry of 30 fresh calved heifers and young cows.
Judging gets underway at 10.30am, with entries coming under scrutiny from Adam Watson of the Derrydorragh herd based at Macosquin, Co Londonderry. The sale commences at 11.30am.
Auctioneer Michael Taaffe said: “The catalogue boasts an entry of quality Holsteins, with stock to suit all requirements.
“The heifers on offer are bred from proven cow families such as Barbie, Heiress, Jill, Roxie, Ruby, Vaakje, Danna, Avis, Charlotte, Meggie and Lilac; and offer generation after generation of milk and components.”
Holstein NI chairman Gaston Wallace added: “Moira is the premier outlet for top-notch dairy stock. The monthly sale is supported by many of the province’s leading Holstein herds, and value for money and quality is guaranteed. I would encourage milk producers to come along and view the stock on offer,” he added.
Entries have been received from the following herds: Ards, Ardmore, Carrowcroft, Dunbanard, Garaba, Hilltara, Newry, Relough and Simlahill.
The heifers on offer are daughters of top AI sires including: Guarini, Iota, Wyman, Gold Chip, Windbrook, Bolton, Fever, End Story, Bluesky, Doberman and Tiergan.
