Slightly easier trade for fat lambs at Markethill

An entry of 1860 sheep at Markethill returned a slightly easier trade for fat lambs. Stores and cull sheep sold in a steady trade.

The 1605 lambs included 500 heavy lambs which sold to 299p per kilo for 24 kilos at £71.80 each. All good quality pens sold from 280p to 294p per kilo. A total of 20 pens sold from £70 to £75 each.

Middleweight lambs sold to 319p per kilo for 20.1 kilos at £64.20 each. All good quality pens sold from 285p to 316p per kilo for 20.1 kilos at £63.50 each.

Light store lambs sold to 348p per kilo for 17.2 kilos at £60 each. Main demand sold from 310p to 346p per kilo. Stronger stores sold to 346p per kilo for 18 kilos at £62.50 each.

The 180 cull ewes sold readily with good quality pens selling from £65 to £86 each. Plainer ewes sold from £40 to £55 each.

An entry of 70 breeding ewes RW Char ram sold to £160 each with other pens at £155, £150 and £145 each.
