Sponsors have been weighing in to support the forthcoming Irish National Holstein Show.

The evening event, organised by Holstein NI, takes place on Friday, 13th March, at the Pedigree Sales Arena, Moira.

Holstein NI chairman Gaston Wallace said: “Plans are well underway for our annual Holstein Show. I am pleased to announce that we have received more than 70 entries from herds across the country, including a number from exhibitors in the Republic of Ireland.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their generous financial support. Without them this event would not be possible. The club is grateful to its long-standing sponsors, and this year I am delighted to welcome a number of new sponsors.”

The 2015 Irish National Holstein Show boasts a prize fund in excess of £4,500.

The supreme championship is sponsored by Dairy Master agent Cookstown Dairy Services. The company has bases at Ardee, County Louth, and Ballymoney, Co Antrim.

Town of Monaghan Co-op is sponsoring the exhibitor-bred championship. In addition the exhibitor-bred animal in each class (1 to 10) will receive a £25 cash award.

The junior championship is sponsored by McLarnon Feeds, and this year they have presented a new perpetual trophy for the winner of the junior section.

AI giant Genus ABS is sponsoring the intermediate championship; while Thompsons will present the premier breeder and premier exhibitor awards at the end of the show.

Sponsors of the event include: Holstein UK, Cogent Breeding, AB Vista, Western Farm Enterprises, Bank of Ireland, Global Genetics, FarmGate Nutrition, SC Feeds, Agri-Lloyd, Trioliet, Irwin Farm Supplies/Ecolab and Doherty Wood Shavings.

Gaston Wallace extended an open invitation to all Holstein enthusiasts to come along and watch the judging, meet and mingle with breeders, trade exhibitors and sponsors. “It promises to be an excellent show. For the first time ever we have introduced two showmanship classes which are sponsored by Irwins Feed.”

Entry to the Irish National Holstein Show is free, and catering facilities will be available on-site. Judging gets underway at 6.30pm, and commentator Michael Taaffe will keep visitors informed as the show progresses throughout the evening.

The Pedigree Sales Arena is situated off Junction 9 on the M1 Motorway. Follow the Lisburn Road exit off the roundabout, and turn right into Meadow Road. The Pedigree Sales Arena is on the right. The entrance is directly beside the tile showroom.
