St Colman’s College in Newry recently launched their new Agriculture Club for year 8 to year 10 students who have an avid interest in farming and countryside issues. Weekly meetings are attended by over 20 pupils from both rural and urban backgrounds.

As part of the Livestock and Meat Commission’s industry development programme, Colin Smith, LMC Industry Development Manager recently delivered a talk to the students on local agriculture, discussing farming practices and the importance of the Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assurance Scheme locally.
