Superb line-up of pedigree Limousin females on offer

The NI Limousin Cattle Club is now in the final stages of getting ready for the upcoming Unhaltered Female Sale on 31st August at Hilltown Mart.

This is the first time the Club has held a sale of their own, just for Club members, and it has been supported really well with 48 lots up for sale from some of the best herds in Northern Ireland.

These include females from Shanhill (3), Lynderg (5), Melbreak (3), Millgate (6), Carmorn (2), Larkhill (3), Titchburn (4), Ashmara (15), Millview (2), Tullybake (2) and Tullyglush (3).

There are four cow and calf units, 13 in-calf heifers and 31 maiden heifers up for grabs at the sale with well known bloodlines. Breeder Jim Quail, Banbridge has five lots in the sale with great bloodlines including two Lynderg Hero heifers, the first heifers offered on sale from his successful stock bull.

Lynderg Hero has certainly proved himself on the show circuit in the last few years by winning male champion titles at two Balmoral Shows and the Highland Show plus many more and is by Lynderg Eisenhower, a Guards Boomer son, and is out of the dam Lynderg Diana, a Haltcliffe Underwriter daughter.

Breeder Michael Loughran, Dunamore has six lots for sale all with great pedigrees from his herd, who has had numerous successes on the show ring and premier sales at Carlisle in the recent years. Maiden heifers are linked to some of the best bloodlines to be bred from the herd and UK including Millgate Caesar, Carlisle Champion Feb 2009, sold 18,000gns, Millgate Fame, sold 32,000gns, Cloughead Ernie sold for 34,000gns to name but a few of the bloodlines included in these young females.

A big part of the sale is comprised by Neil Martin, Dromara who has brought forward 15 lots which include six in calf heifers and eight maiden heifers. The in calf heifers included bloodlines of Sympa, Rocky, Greensons Gigolo, Grahams Samson and Redpaths Jaguar.

These females are AI’d to Virginia Andy a Highland Show Supreme champion and a bull who has bred exceptionally well for the Mariscote Herd, Scotland. He has easy calving traits, good length, size, growth rates and muscle and bred sons to 15,000gns. Neil has also used Ampertaine Abracadabra in AI who was an Overall Champion at Carlisle who sold for 29,000gns and has sons selling to 14,000gns. His maiden females again include bloodlines of some of the breed’s top sires with top genetics including Wilodge Tonka sold for 30,000gns, Ampertaine Abracadabra, Grahams Unbeatable sold for 35,000gns, Reddings Alfie sold for 11,500gns, Haltcliffe Dancer sold for 28,000gns and Goldies Comet 23,000gns.

Also attending the sale with three lots is Larry Crilly, Shanhill herd, Mullaghbawn with females with bloodlines including Fieldson Alfy, Ampertaine Commander and Casimir.

One female is Ai’d to Ampertaine Elgin who sold for 32,000gns and has sons sell to 28,000gns and another maiden heifer is the first daughter to be sold from Limo Vixen who was purchased for 7,000gns and her brother was reserve champion at the NI Limousin Championships.

Brian McAuley, Larkhill herd, Antrim has entered three lots which again are loaded with great pedigrees and genetics. One female is bred from their May cow family which has won best cow family in NI herd competition out of sire Dalglish and a fresh bloodline for any herd. Another with Ampertaine Elgin and Wilodge Fantastic bloodlines plus a very appealing female bred from Larkhill Countess, a Carmorn Penny daughter with Emue, Bailea Umandy and Wilodge Ravenelle bloodlines but one of the first daughters to be sired by stockbull Goldies Hallmark, a Wilodge Vantastic son.

There is much more to be offered at this sale for this is only the tip of the “iceberg”.
