Organisers get ready for their event this Friday night

Claragh Bridge Vintage Club in Partnership with the management of the newly launching Oasis Community Centre, outside Castlewellan, Co Down, are hosting their inaugural ‘Vintage Tractor & Car Run’ on Friday 8th May.

This family event has been designed to appeal to all ages and all members of the family.

For the vintage tractor and car enthusiasts, there will be parade that will take in the beautiful and scenic sights of some of Co. Down’s most unspoilt townlands. The registration for vehicles is a minimum donation of £5 and will take place at 6pm with all drivers getting refreshments and a souvenir of the event. The parade will begin at 7pm sharp outside Oasis on the main Ballynahinch to Castlewellan road, where Ballylough and School roads meet.

While the parade takes off, inside Oasis Community Centre there will be entertainments to suit and excite all the family.

* traditional Music

* Irish dancing (three ages groups and different Schools of Dancing)

* face painting

* kids Crafts

* nail painting

There will also be appearances from local talent such as Eddie Dornan, the story teller and Dan McElroy on the Bones. Refreshments will also be available for all the family.

There is no charge for entry to Oasis to see and hear all these great local talents. All the funds raised from the Tractor & Car Run and public donations will go toward purchasing a Syringe Driver for the MacDermott Unit at the Ulster Hospital. Cancer is a disease that has affected a lot of families and friends. While it may be difficult to do anything to help ease the suffering, a syringe driver will make a huge difference to the patients and their families. Please come along and support this worthy local cause while enjoying Family Fun at the newly launched Oasis Community Centre.

This event will also showcase all the local groups who will be using the Community Centre and all the groups and classes for the whole community. If you or your group wish to use the Centre please talk to the organisers as they would be delighted to welcome your event or hobby class.
