Mohsin Al Tajir and Martine Chapman from Blackford Farm in Perthshire are to be the guest speakers at this year’s European Angus AGM which is being held at the Ballinderry Inn in Moira on Tuesday, April 14.
Their Blackford Farm estate, which is spread over 20,000 acres, is home to various breeds of cattle including Highland Wagyu, pedigree Aberdeen Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Highland Cattle and 100% full blood Wagyu cattle.
Mohsin and Martine will provide insight into their cattle breeding programmes and outline their aims for developing the Wagyu breed in the UK.
Already recognised as the biggest Wagyu breeders in the UK, Blackford Farm are members of the Australian Wagyu Association, which is the largest breed association outside Japan. As well as purebred Wagyu, Mohsin and Martine have been crossing Wagyu with other breeds on the farm.
“We are really looking forward to having Mohsin and Martine with us at our AGM,” said European Angus Secretary, Harry McGaffin. “Some of our members, including myself, have visited Blackford Farm and it was an altogether outstanding experience.
“This is a great opportunity to hear about the ambitious programme of work that is underway at Blackford Farm.”
The lecture, which is scheduled to get underway at 8.00pm on April 14 is open to members and non members but for seating purposes numbers need to be confirmed.
