A delegation of over 40 YFCU members recently enjoyed a three night study trip to Wales and England.

After an early start to begin their trip, members had the opportunity to visit Ifor Williams trailers, accompanied by Andy Lamont from Lamont Trailers, Coleraine.

The following day began with a visit to Harper Adams University and a tour of its dairy and sheep unit.

This was a very informative visit and members also had the opportunity to find out more about the courses and training offered by the university.

In the afternoon the group visited an arable farm owned by Neil Furniss.

On the final day, the tour group visited JCB world headquarters in the morning. This gave the group an insight into the production of JCB machinery and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. After lunch, the group visited Ben Yate’s Wyndford Holsteins farm.

YFCU Agri & Rural Affairs Committee chairman, Neil Patterson said: “The study tour gave our members the opportunity to visit a wide range of commercial and educational enterprises during the three days we were in Wales and England. I, for one, am delighted as to how the tour went and would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in organising and hosting us for their time and support.”
