1730 under the hammer at Markethill

An entry of 1730 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday, 7th December sold in a steady demand.

Heavy lambs sold to £85.80 each with a further ten pens from £82 to £85 each. Top rate 341p per kilo for 24.1 @ £82.20 each. All good quality heavy lambs sold from 325p to 335p per kilo.

Good quality middleweights sold from 335p to 360p per kilo paid for 22.8kilos @ £82 each.

Store lamb trade was exceptionally good with top quality lots selling from 375p to a top of 410p per kilo for 16.6kilos @ £68 each. Stronger stores sold to 379p per kilo for 18.6 kilos @ £70 .50 each.

200 cull ewes sold to £76 each. Main demand sold from £58 to £74 with poor quality ewes from £35 to £50 each.
