Downpatrick Mart: 90 month Limousin cow sells for £1,520

The special suckler herd dispersal sale held on 10th November at Downptrick Mart for a Castlewellan farmer attracted a huge crowd and recorded some very strong prices for breeding stock.

The cows and in-calf heifers were all due to calve from February onwards.

The top price on the night was £1,520.00 paid for a 90 month Limousin cow while a 23 month in-calf Charolais heifer sold to £1,450.00.

At the sheep sale on Saturday 18th November there was an increased entry of good quality lambs which sold to £92.00 and fat ewes to £80.00.

At the Monday night cattle sale on 20th November 2017 there was a very good entry of quality store bullocks and heifers which sold to £2.44ppk and £2.13ppk respectively.

On the night a Loughinisland farmer received a top price of £1,145 for a Charolais bullock.
