Swatragh Mart: Heifers sell £1,145 for 586kg

Cattle: Swatragh Mart had an increased number of good quality cattle for sale on Monday 6th March which met a flying trade with sellers both local and from as far as Kesh in Co Fermanagh and a good ring of buyers with some excellent prices.

More quality stock is required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £1,145 for 586kg (£1.95 per kg), young heifers selling to £680 for 292kg (£2.33 per kg), bullocks selling to £1,135 for 536kg (£2.11 per kg), young bullocks selling to £675 for 238kg (£2.84 per kg) with fat cows selling to £870.

Sheep: Over 1000 excellent quality sheep were presented at our weekly sheep sale at Swatragh on Saturday 4th March, witnessing a solid lamb trade with top prices being paid. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £90.00 each to a top rate of £94.00, middleweight lambs sold to £91.00 for 22kg and Fat Ewes were in high demand topping at £116. A top price of 423p per kg was paid for four lambs 20.8kg at £88.00. Breeders topped at £155 for doubles and many lots of singles reaching £132. Fat rams reached over £95. More stock required to meet the demand.
