2,600 lambs for sale at Cushendun annual show and sale

The annual show and sale of lambs at Cushendun attracted a hugely increased entry of 2,600 lambs which met a total clearance and excellent prices paid in all sections.

Prior to the sale a show of mule ewe lambs was judged by Jimmy Mills and sponsored by Glenfarm Supplies.

First place was awarded to J J McAllister whose pen went on to secure the top price of £121 per head while the second placed pen exhibited by Hugh McNeill received £115 per head.

There was a very strong demand for the excellent show of store lambs which sold to £73 per head for Suffolk cross lambs presented by Donal O’Hara while mule store lambs sold to £71.50 and £71 per head paid to Archie Murphy for pens of 50 and 46.

Mule ewe lambs: J J McAllister 10 at £121, H McNeill 10 at £115, J J McAllister 11 at £110, 2 at £108, P McCurdy 10 at £102, H McNeill 14 at £97, P and M Convery 12 and £97, E and P McCormick 10 at £96, 10 at £93, P McCurdy 10 at £92, 8 at £92, 10 at £92, J Blaney 12 at £91.
