It was great to welcome thirteen new members to the club but it’s still not too late to come along and join the fun!

The club meets on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at Gracehill Primary School at 8pm.

The club is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year and members are looking forward to their upcoming events to celebrate this milestone. Members will be holding a table quiz night on Friday, October 7, at 8pm at The Wash Basin in Ahoghill. There can be a maximum of five in a team and it costs £2 per person. All money raised will go towards the chosen charity Turning Point NI, which is a very worthy charity which focuses on suicide prevention. To enter a team text Kathryn Thompson on 07715 815 065.

To help raise money for Turning Point NI, club leader Michael Patterson and Stuart Gillespie took part in the Lap of the Lough which was 96 miles on their bikes. The club would like to thank everyone who sponsored them for this great experience.

To celebrate the club’s 85th anniversary members are holding a dinner dance on Saturday, November 26, at 7pm at The Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena. The guest speaker for the evening will be YFCU President Roberta Simmons and music will be by Band Vienna. Organisers would love to see lots of past members there along with all the present members. Tickets cost £25 and can be bought from Kathryn Thompson on 07715 815 065 or Jonathan Bristow on 07999 037 782.

As the summer activities began to draw to a close, Ahoghill held its annual barbecue on Saturday, August 13. It was a great success and the club would like to thank all who helped in the weeks before the barbecue and on the night to make it so successful.

The club members were very pleased to recently make a cheque presentation to the Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. This was the money raised from the previous year and members were delighted to be able to hand over an excellent total of £1,000. Members are so pleased to be able to give this amount to such a great charity that helps so many people every day.

Ahoghill YFC also made a donation of £600 to the Ahoghill in Bloom organisation. The club were overjoyed to be asked to help the team with the community work.

Members planted flowers, litter picked and cut hedges to help the local village. Members would like to wish Ahoghill all the best for the results of the Britain in Bloom competition this year and they hope all the hard work will be rewarded.
