The annual sale of Blackface breeding ewes, hoggets and ewe lambs at Ballymena Mart attracted a large entry 300 sheep and excellent prices were recorded in all sections. The large entry of Lanark hoggets sold to a top of £350 per head paid to Chas. Phillips Draperstown who also secured the top average of £203 per head for 83 forward. Chas. Phillips also took the top prices in the ewe section receiving £138 per head for two pens of ewes. The ewe lamb section was topped by Alan Magee who received £175 per head paid for a super pen of Lanark ewe lambs. An entry of 2726 sheep in Ballymena resulted in a great trade. Fat lambs sold to 371p for a pen of 15 Texels 21kg at £78 presented by J Walker, Randalstown, and to a top per head of £87 for 20 Texels 27.5kg from Mrs S White, Cloughmills. Fat ewes sold to £95.
