Ice warnings for NI roads this morning as gritters continue to make safe treacherous routes

The forecasting service reveals that it will remain “cold and mainly dry” but there will also be “a few snow showers in the south”.
A Yellow weather warning for Ice is in operation today between 8pm and 11am tomorrow.

Meteorologists ask the public to expect ‘roads and railways to be affected leading to delays and longer journey times’ ‘some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces’ and ‘probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths’.
They add that today will be a “mainly dry day with a little brightness”.
“A few mostly light snow showers in the south and east,” it adds.
“A much colder day with fresh easterly winds. Maximum temperature 3 °C.”

Tonight, according to the Met Office, will see “most places will have a dry night with clear periods”.
“Just a few wintry showers later tonight in the east,” it adds.
“It will be a cold night with a frost. Minimum temperature -1 °C.”
Monday see a Yellow weather warning for snow and ice in operation for parts of NI.

The Met Office advises that snow showers and icy stretches over parts of Northern Ireland may lead to some travel disruption’.
The weather warning is in operation from 5pm on Monday to 11am on Tuesday.
The Met Office advises that ‘some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services’ there is a likelihood of ‘some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces’ and there will ‘probably be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths’.
The Met Office website also advises that Monday “will be a bright mainly dry day with sunny spells”.

“There may be a few light wintry showers, most likely over Antrim and Down.”
“A cold easterly wind. Maximum temperature 2 °C.”
And the outlook for Tuesday to Thursday, according to the Met Office website is “bitterly cold easterly winds with a lot of dry weather and sunshine”.
“There will be a few light snow showers, mainly in the east”.
