Banking matters on the agenda

Monday, October 5, will see the start of the 2015 – 2016 winter programme for the North Tyrone Group.

The topic for the night is agricultural banking and finance in the current climate and importance of benchmarking. The speakers for the night will be Cormac McKervey, Senior Agri Manager Ulster Bank, and Jason McFerron, CAFRE.

The meeting will take place in the Strabane Enterprise Centre, Orchard Road Industrial Estate, Strabane at 8pm and supper will be provided and has been kindly sponsored by Ulster Bank.

All new and existing members will be made most welcome, so if you are a regular attender or haven’t been to a meeting before a warm welcome will be provided.

The November meeting which is a joint meeting between the Mid & North Tyrone group has had been rescheduled, from Friday, November 6, to Friday, November 20, at 11.30am as the speaker Jim Nicholson MEP is unable to attend. Members are asked to note the change of date.

The topic is Europe’s outlook on the current farming crisis and the speaker will be Mr Nicholson.

The meeting will take place in the Newtownstewart Centre 2000, at 11.30am and lunch will be provided after the meeting.

The group have carried out their annual cereal competitions and North Tyrone has again triumphed at Northern Ireland level with John Scott, from Crew Bridge, earning second place in the NI Spring Barley Competitions; Ryan and Albert Millar, Sion Mills winning second place in the NI Winter Barley Competition and William Russell, Ardstraw winning second place in the NI Winter Wheat Competition.

Members are reminded that the silage competition will soon be opening for entries, so please don’t hesitate to contact us to enter.

Members are reminded of the County Tyrone dinner dance held in the Silver Birches Hotel, Omagh on Friday 27th November 2015 at 8pm. Music is by No Control.

This year it is North Tyrone’s turn to organise the dinner so we would appreciate the support from the group. For tickets which are £25 each please contact the group office.
