Co Down UFU Chairman & North Down UFU member Robert Burgess recently presented a cheque for £3,357.75 to Phil Kane of Marie Curie. This money was raised at the Co Down UFU Annual Dinner Dance held on Friday 6th February 2015 at Millbrook Lodge, Ballynahinch.
Robert would like to express his thanks to everyone who supported the evening, the main sponsor CES Quarry Products Ltd and all the other sponsors who donated money and prizes for the evening.
“It was a great night’s entertainment with a generous donation being given to a very worthy cause in Marie Curie,” he said.
Phil Kane from Marie Curie commented: “Marie Curie has recently undergone a rebranding step to raise public awareness of the expanding services they provide for patients and families. This includes care for life-limiting conditions including dementia, congenital heart disease and fatal lung condition COPD.
“The charity believes that everyone affected by a terminal illness should have access to all the care and support they need, regardless of their personal circumstances.”
In conjunction with NFU Mutual we are running a VQ Level 2 Award in Safe Working in Agricultural & Production Horticulture in October. This is a one day course delivered by a qualified Health & Safety trainer. This is a nationally recognised VQ Level 2 award and can be used to demonstrate Health & Safety competence to customers, external auditors and the enforcing authorities.
In November we are also running a First Aid course for members and families. There are limited spaces available for both these courses so anyone looking to go on the course please contact the office.
The Cereal competition will be taking place next month so anyone interested in competing please contact the office as soon as possible to lodge your entry.
Finally, we wish all our members a productive and safe summer and look forward to seeing you all at our group meetings commencing October.
