Back in April, Group members headed off on a day trip to the County Armagh.
The first stop was to the Tayto Factory. Members enjoyed a tour of the factory before heading for lunch. The final destination was at NC Engineering. We were delighted to be given a full tour of this impressive machinery manufacturer. The trip was a resounding success, and plans are already underway for next year’s outing.
The annual cereal competition brought great interest within the South Antrim members.
Results are as follows:
Winter Wheat: 1st Mark Blelock; 2nd James Watt; 3rd Harold Wilson
Spring Barley: 1st William Boyes; 2nd Will and Ben Greer; 3rd Will McElroy
Winter Barley: 1st Will and Ben Greer; 2nd E Boyes & Son; 3rd E Boyes & Son
Oats: Trevor Brown
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our judges for their help in judging the various competitions. Congratulations to all who took part in the competition.
Last Saturday, the South Antrim Group teamed up with the Ballyclare Group to host members in a marquee at Antrim Show.
Both groups were delighted with the uptake from members with the launch of a new online Health and Safety service at the show, in conjunction with NFU Mutual.
For more information on this please check out www.nfumutualsafetyhub.co.uk. Thank you to all who called in to speak with us at the show – it is always good to catch up at a social event.
With the winter programme fast approaching, the team in the Crumlin office have already planned a variety of evening activities. We are also selling tickets for the County Antrim UFU BBQ, organised by the Ballyclare Group. This event will be held in Ballymena Market Yard on Saturday 26th August.
If anyone has any queries about UFU Membership, would like to become a member of Ulster Farmers’ Union or wants further information on the health and safety service, please do not hesitate to contact Gyles, Zara, or David in Crumlin on 028 9442 2185.
