Despite the rain, we enjoyed a successful Fermanagh County Show, with the UFU office opening its doors to Co Fermanagh members and those from further a field.
Refreshments were provided and members got a chance to speak to Ian Marshall, UFU President.
Two competitions took place on the day. Congratulations to Margaret and Allan Brady, Florencecourt, on winning a P&O Ferry Voucher and Catherine and Declan Murphy, Brookeborough, who won a voucher for the new gastropub the Tap House restaurant, Tempo Road, Enniskillen.
Thanks to everyone who attended Pensions Freedom seminar, which is very important to explore the options available with our Financial Advisor, Allan Downes.
Many thanks to all who donated over the two days for our chosen charity; Tree of Hope - Theodore McClelland Appeal. A fantastic £200 went towards the charity, see www.justgiving.com/theosjourney. Also a charity night dance has been organised on Friday 9th October in Gransha Hall at 9pm. Tickets are available.
Members from the group committees met recently and are well underway with the winter programme. We are looking forward to the study tour to Krakow, Poland, on 27th – 30th September, visiting beef, dairy and poultry farms.
The first meeting welcomes Dennis Tourens, WMS Evaluator, Cogent where he will enlighten us with his experiences farming in Saudi Arabia.
This will be a very informative meeting and we would encourage all members to attend – October 8th at 8pm in the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen.
The Fermanagh County Dinner will be held in the Killyhevlin Hotel on Friday 20th November at 8pm. Contact your local office for tickets.
Another important date to remember is Thursday 3rd December at 8pm, when members will meet at Charles Crawford’s farm in Aghintain, Fivemiletown to see his new beef unit.
We look forward to the New Year and the President’s Area Meeting in January, at the Killyhevlin Hotel, details of which to follow.
The February meeting will be held on 4th February 2016 in the Killyhevlin hotel, guest speaker will be Mr Gordon Grey, Erne Veterinary Group where the topic will be, Heat synchronisation and herd fertility.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Margaret Maguire, office manager, on reaching 40 years service in the Enniskillen UFU and NFU office.
Margaret is well known to all the group members in County Fermanagh.
