The group held their annual Table Quiz and Raffle in December.

This year the group decided that the proceeds would go to Marie Curie Cancer Care as so many local families have been touched by the charity. The night was a great success with over 20 teams competing for first place.

The group would like to thank everyone who supported the event and their generosity shown on the night. Thanks also go to the local business that provided prizes for the raffle.

The amount raised was £1,580 which was presented to Moria from Marie Curie at the following meeting. Moria explained how beneficial the money would be in the local area and she thanked the group for their efforts.

Recent speakers at the monthly group meetings have been Jason Barley, AFBI and Cormac McKervey, Ulster Bank. Jason gave an informative presentation on calf and lamb rearing and Cormac highlighted the issues facing farming and finance. Both meetings were well supported and thanks go to our speakers.

The next meeting will be a joint meeting with the North Tyrone group. It will be held in the Newtownstewart 2000 Centre on 3rd March 2015 at 8pm.

The speakers will be Trevor Kirk, PSNI who will be explaining the do’s and don’ts of agricultural vehicles on the road and Wendy Fearon, Clarendon will be discussing Grassland and cereal weed control. Both are relevant topics which hugely affect the farming community and we would encourage all members to attend.

Any members who currently do not receive the text messages or weekly bulletin via email please ring the Omagh office with your mobile number and email address.

If there are any farmers in the Mid-Tyrone area who are not members of the group and are interested in joining, please do not hesitate to give Stewart or Ruth a call on 02882243057.
