The North Antrim group of the UFU kicked off their winter programme by attending an Ulster Rugby match in October.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday 12th November 2015 at 8pm in the Hedges Hotel, Stranocum. All members and prospective members are very welcome.
On this occasion members are looking forward to welcoming several agricultural representatives from most of the major banks. The various representatives will form a panel and will give an overview of the current banking industry in relation to farming, where they see the market moving to and will be answering the various questions put to them by those members present.
The North Antrim group would like to congratulate Joe Sloan on receiving a number of awards in London.
Last year, Sloan’s were introduced to the Alchemy Project run by Coleraine Borough Council and through this they met mentor Jilly Douglas. Jilly advised them to enter “The Great Taste Awards” in London. Two pork products were sent across, rindless back bacon and smoked rindless back bacon. Two months later the results were returned and Sloan’s were awarded one star for the rindless back and two stars for smoked rindless. This is a great recognition of the high quality produce Sloan’s provide for the local consumer.
The North Antrim group would like to remind members that the 24th Annual UFU Silage Competition, sponsored by Ecosyl (Volac) and John Thompson & Sons is still open for entries. North Antrim members wishing to enter should contact the Ballymoney Office on 028 2766 3101. Note the closing date for entries for North Antrim members is Monday 2 November 2015.
The UFU Group held a prize draw for a P&O Ferry crossing and the winners were Nigel & Rosemary Jamison.
