The UFU along with the other UK farming unions, TFA and YFC, met with Iceland to discuss its commitment to UK agriculture. Iceland has promised to increase its commitment to placing the Red Tractor logo on more in-store products.
Commenting on the meeting, UFU president, Ian Marshall said: “This was a constructive and robust meeting and Iceland made it clear that they want to work towards a sustainable and long-term agriculture sector. We are pleased that Iceland has committed to ways of getting the Red Tractor onto more products in-store and that they are willing to engage in ongoing discussions on how this can happen.
“We welcome this initial commitment and we look forward to working closely with the retailer to ensure these efforts bear fruition and that it will benefit our members on the ground,” he said.
