DARD has confirmed that farmers will have an extra week to submit a Whole Farm Needs Assessment (WFNA) Survey, as they have extended the deadline for survey submissions to April 10, 2015.
The Ulster Farmers’ Union has been urging farmers interested in the Farm Business Improvement Scheme to ensure they submit a WFNA survey as DARD needs robust data to prove to the Northern Ireland Executive that there is a need for a capital grant scheme to be funded.
UFU Deputy President Barclay Bell said: “From our conversations with DARD, it appears that there has been an encouraging response from farmers but the weeklong extension is welcome news. It is a busy time of year so some farmers may need that little bit of extra time to submit a survey response. I would encourage all farmers interested in the Farm Business Improvement Scheme to ensure they submit a WFNA survey because even though the Northern Ireland Executive has already earmarked up to £250 million for the Farm Business Improvement Scheme, it is vital that we provide DARD with the necessary information to help them assess the type and level of support needed.”
The WFNA does not take long and is simple to complete. This is not a grant application and completing it will not have any bearing on future applications.
The closing submission date is now 10th APRIL 2015 and the WFNA is available online on the DARD website www.dardni.gov.uk
